Vandals have ruined the fun at a popular Bargara Park.
There is a significant amount of smashed glass throughout Mary Kinross Park including in the softfall of the play equipment spaces.
Council staff tried to clean it up as best they could but because of the damage the softfall matting needs to be replaced.
Mayor Helen Black says it’s a disappointing and selfish act that impacts the entire community.
“Not only does it pose a significant safety risk, but it also incurs unnecessary costs to the ratepayer,” she says.
“We encourage anyone who has witnessed the behaviour to come forward and report it to police.”
The pathway connecting the three play areas will remain open until softfall removal works begin on January 28.
The space is expected to reopen to the public by January 30, pending weather and material delivery.
