Although it’s still Winter you’d be forgiven for thinking we’re already in Spring.
Bundaberg has seen maximum daytime temperatures of 26 degrees this week and is expected to hit 27 on Friday.
Bureau of Meteorology Senior Forecast Felim Hanniffy says the warm weather’s being caused by a number of factors.
“We’ve got a high pressure system in the East and we’ve got a trough feature over Central Australia that’s bringing showers and storms across parts of the southern states as well and it’s a combination of these two systems that happen to draw down a very warm northerly airflow across much of Western and interior Queensland,” he says.
The temperatures will be higher out west where the mercury is forecast to reach the mid 30s.
In the Wide Bay-Burnett, Gayndah and Monto are heading for 29 degrees.
The region is still on a La Nina watch, associated with above average rainfall, despite last week’s heavy rain.
