A small country town has come together to raise over $9000 for RACQ LifeFlight Rescue.
The volunteer-run Baffle Creek Car and Bike Muster saw hundreds of people get ‘revved up’ for the annual celebration of old and new vehicles.
An array of makes, models and vintages of cars and bikes made the journey to the coastal river town over the annual weekend, resulting in one of the biggest musters yet.
Organiser Phyllis Gomes says it was fantastic to see the community and visitors dig deep for the charity event.
“The Baffle Creek Car and Bike Muster is held every third weekend of July and it’s one not to miss!” says Ms Gomes.
“We are so grateful for the generosity of our community and visitors who together raised more than $9,000 for RACQ LifeFlight Rescue in just a few days.
“RACQ LifeFlight Rescue is a vital lifeline in a remote area such as this so all proceeds will go a long way to helping people in need.”
RACQ LifeFlight Rescue’s Community Engagement & Activities Coordinator Aleisha Evans says she was blown away by the final tally.
“Phyllis and her team of volunteers work so hard to run this event and it really is getting bigger and better every year,” says Ms Evans.
“It’s absolutely amazing to receive such an incredible donation. It literally gave me goosebumps.
“The donation will help to ensure that the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue service will continue to provide high-level aeromedical assistance to the entire Wide Bay-Burnett region.”
Member for Burnett Stephen Bennett says sponsoring the Baffle Creek Car and Bike Muster was a privilege.
“The Burnett community is generous, caring, creative and resilient,” says Mr Bennett.
“The Baffle Creek Car and Bike Muster is a culmination of all those things, and it gives me so much joy to see the event thrive.
“A huge thank you must go to all the volunteers and organisers who go above and beyond to make it the success that it is.”
